Reading Language Arts

Fluency Read – This week we will be reading an exerpt from the I Have a Dream speech for a fluency read.  Your child will perform this reading on Friday this week.

Reading – This week we will be reading a story called, Tops and Bottoms.  The target vocabulary for the story is as follows: crops, risky, scowled, profit, plucked, tugged, grunted, and hollered.  The grammar focus this week is quotation marks.  We will have an assessment on Friday on these skills.

Spelling –   We will be spelling words that are homophones.  The following words will be assessed on Friday.

             whole, hole, it’s, its, here, hear, won, one, hour, our, fir, fur, their, there, rode, road, peace, piece        

Math – This week we will begin building facts memorization for multiplication using a program called “Factorization”. We will continue to work in Everyday Math as well.

Science – This week we will begin a unit called Science Tools. Your child will be using Studies Weekly Science online.

Also, be sure that you have an email and/or phone number on file in the office to receive a Parent Blast from Mrs. Gildein concerning changes in menu and other important information.

Secret Words: I have a dream.

Please write this word in your child’s planner. On Tuesday, he/she will be asked to show me their planner to receive a reward for having the Secret Word written in it by you.
