Nursery School Welcome Letter 2019/2020

Dear Nursery School Families,

I hope you are enjoying your summer and all the blessings that come with this beautiful weather. I am writing to give you some important dates for the beginning of the school year and to give you a supply list in case you want to get started on your school shopping. Nursery School students are not required to wear uniforms. We just ask that your child wears clothes that are okay to get messy (we will do a lot of art projects and outside play) and closed-toe shoes for playground safety.

Dates:
August 19 & 21: Home Visits- I will be calling the first week of August to set these up with you. These will be a short visit to give us some one-on-one time with you family to get to know you and discuss needs/goals for the year.

August 30: Nursery School Open House at 5pm

September 3- First day of Nursery School

Supply List:
1. Glue Sticks- Elmer’s Purple work best
2. One bottle of liquid Elmer’s school glue
3. Water Bottle with your child’s name on it. They will bring this back and forth to school each day to drink throughout the day. We can refill it, as needed.
4. Backpack that will fit a two-pocket folder
5. Nap mat- the all in one roll-up type work best but a Kinder Mat and blanket are fine, too.
6. 1 24- pack of washable crayons
7. A weather appropriate change of clothes to keep at school. Please put these in a gallon size bag with your child’s name clearly written on the outside of it.
Donation Ideas (these are not required but if you would like to help out our classroom):
Clorox wipes
Paper towels

Tissues

Please know that if a question is important to you, then it is important to us. I look forward to seeing you and getting to know your families.

Love,
Ms. Krista

Welcome Letter for School Year 2019/2020

Dear Families of St. Patrick’s Students,
The summer is quickly coming to an end and we are getting ready for the new school year!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         There are a lot of changes this year, such as:

  • Cubbies and hooks instead of lockers
  • Fresh paint and updated furniture
  • A Positive Behavior System (House System)
  • A new enrichment class: Practical Arts
  • Updated and simplified uniform policy
  • New classroom materials                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 A few upcoming dates to keep in mind:
  • Golf Tournament (8/9)
  • Matriculation Days (8/13, 8/14, 8/16)- 9 AM to 5 PM                                    Additional Evening Sessions (8/14 and 8/16)  6 PM to 8 PM
  • Parish Carnival (8/24) – 1 PM to 5 PM
  • Open House for Kindergarten to 8th Grade (8/22 at 5 PM and 6 PM)
  • First Day of School for Kindergarten through 8th Grade (8/26)                                                                                                                                                  Matriculation is simply the process of finalizing paperwork for enrollment and is required of all families.   During matriculation, there are several stations (e.g. financial, HSA, VIRTUS) and teacher’s Welcome Back Letters and Supply Lists will be distributed.  Matriculation should take less than 30 minutes and are staggered in 15 minute intervals.  Please call the school to set-up an appointment time for matriculation.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               We are all excited about next year and continuing St. Patrick’s century-old practice of teaching with faith, excellence, and love.

Choir Schedule Change

In order to help support the Christmas Pageant, the Choir will have a different schedule starting the week after Thanksgiving.  The Choir will meet Mondays and Thursdays after school for 30 minutes (2:45-3:15 PM) in the Arts Room on the 1st floor.

Picture Proofs

Picture proofs will be sent home with students today, Friday, November 2. We ask that all proofs and orders be returned by Friday, November 9. Once proofs are returned we can create the schedule for re-takes and absent students.

Chicken Pox Advisory

There have been reported cases of the Chicken Pox virus in the community. The threat of contagion and transmission at St. Patrick’s School is minimal; however, prudence and vigilance is always advisable. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact the school at (304) 269.5547.

All Saints Day Celebration

We will have all school Mass on Thursday, November 1 rather than the normal Friday as we will celebrate All Saints Day, a holy day of obligation. Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade will have their class-mass on Friday. To celebrate the Communion of Saints, we are asking children to dress up as a recognizable saint for November 1. They may wear their costume all day, including mass! Help your child pick a saint which would serve a good role model and has things in common. Students who are not dressed as saints, should come in formal uniform.
