Weekly Overview for 4/15/19

Classroom News:

There will be no hot lunch available this week due to the county’s break. Please send a lunch each day this week with your child.

Spring break will be next week. (Following Easter Sunday)

We are planning a field trip for May 10th out to the lake. We will leave at 9:30 and participate in a nature hike, boat ride and feed some fish. We will finish the day at the wildlife center to learn a little about local wildlife. The final details on buses are being hammered out so stay tuned for final instructions.

Please remember that as long as it is not raining and decent temperatures we will be playing outside.  Your child needs to bring a jacket or sweater every day.

6 AR points are due by the end of the school year. The class is working toward a second 100-point goal at the moment. Stay tuned for updates.

Banking Day will be on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.

During Lent, students will be voting for their favorite Saints.  Each vote is a penny.  No more than $1 a day is allowed.  All proceeds will help other children in need through the “backpack” program. This will be the final week.

Class Material:

Math: We have been looking at capacity this last week and will finish it up this week. I plan on doing a few water based activities outside but no special clothes or attire will be necessary.

Science: We are working on plants and ecosystems still. I will be posting a rubric tomorrow for our “Class Garden” poster project. Much like the “Class Zoo” poster project, this Friday we will have the 1st and Kinder classes come in to talk to each student about an interesting plant they have learned about. The students have chosen their plants (except for the few that were absent and will pick on Monday) and will bring home the instructions for their project tomorrow.

Social Studies: We will continue our famous American people conversations by moving from inventors from last week to scientists and civil rights leaders.

Reading: We will be doing the next story and the vocab from it. Quiz will be on Friday.

Spelling: I will be pulling words from my list this week. I will post the spelling ist here on Monday.
